Indication
The POLYSITE® PI Implantable Infusion Port is indicated for long term access to the central venous system and allows for repeated vascular access. POLYSITE® PI Implantable Infusion Ports are used to administer chemotherapy, antibiotics and antiviral drugs. They can also be used for parenteral nutrition, transfusion of blood or blood products.
POLYSITE® PI Implantable Infusion Ports can be used for high pressure injection of contrast media during diagnostic studies. The maximum flow rate of power injector equipment used with the pressure injectable port may not exceed 5 ml/sec (300psi). For high pressure injection of contrast media, a high-pressure non-coring needle must be used to access the POLYSITE® PI implanted port. The manufacturer recommends the use of PPS PI® pressure injectable safety non-coring Huber needle.
Product highlights
Durable and light weight
- Polysite is a hybrid port composed of a titanium reservoir resistant to Huber needles punctures and a polyosymethylene (POM) outer casting which makes a light weight port.
Polysite ports can be safely used when CT and MRI procedures are performed.
Its low profile and smooth angles allow a certain discretion for patients. Only a small insertion pocket is necesary thanks to the triangular shape of Polysite.
High pressure compatible
- Compatible with pressure injection of contrast media, Polyiste ports supports a flow rate of up to 5mL/s and a maximum pressure of 325psi.
The radio markings on the back of the port allow visualization and identification of the maximum pressure injection rate between 1mL/s to 5 mL/s.
